Before an aspirant starts preparing for an exam, it seems to be a HARD
NUT TO CRACK. A day before an exam is a nightmare if the preparation
satisfactory or the one is not confident of oneself. Now, lays the
question of preparing for the competitive job exams. Generally,
aspirants for public sector jobs apply for BANK and SSC exams. For some
bank exam is easy to crack and for some SSC.
After analyzing the experiences of successful aspirants of SSC and BANK
exams, it is observed that most of them find Bank PO exam easier than
SSC exam. Let us analyze the syllabus of both the exams as follows:
1. Syllabus of SSC is very comprehensive than BANK PO.
Quantitative Aptitude:
(A) The detailed analysis reflects that BANK PO covers only arithmetic
and DI part. For bank exam, DI covers three topics i.e. Ratio, Average,
and Percentage. Otherwise arithmetic does not have many questions in
the Quantitative Aptitude section. There is no need to master the
entire arithmetic to crack this exam. But to crack SSC CGL, one needs
to master Quant section.
It needs rigorous practice and this needs time. The syllabus of SSC CGL
is much wider than Bank PO. Besides, Arithmetic, one needs to master
higher Math or Advanced Math.
Though the level of difficulty is not high, questions asked are very
easy, but one has to solve them in a limited time and this requires good
speed. Therefore, those who have the quant phobia will find SSC Exam
difficult.
(B) English:
In Bank PO English section is easy to crack if one is good in
comprehension. More than 80 percent of paper covers reading and
comprehension test. This requires daily reading practice. Vocabulary
questions are easy and do not need rigorous cramming of words or idiom
phrases.
For SSC CGL, one needs to master vocabulary section which makes it a
hard nut to crack as cramming or learning Idioms and Phrases, Phrasal
Verbs, One Word Substitutions, Antonyms, and Synonyms, is not an easy
task as the list is very big. It can only be learned by giving at least 1
hour daily to revise them.
(C) Reasoning:
The syllabus BANK PO Exam reasoning is tougher than SSC CGL Reasoning.
This is the only section which needs rigorous practice during the
preparation of Bank PO. One can practice more for SSC CGL exam also in
order to get good ranking.
(D) General Studies/GK/Current Affairs:
In Bank PO, General Awareness section is easy as one need to cover only
current affairs of last three months and some static GK related to Bank.
There is a separate section of Computer Awareness in Bank PO Exam.
This can be covered in one month’s time only.
The syllabus of General Studies of SSC CGL is vast; one can never cover
the entire topics. It needs more of mugging up of the factual data given
in NCERT, which is very difficult to remember for everyone. SSC CGL has
a huge competition as compared to Bank PO, but it is not difficult to
crack this exam if one starts from the scratch.
